Tales of Blade and Blood

It's "Elven" O'Clock
4th Session

It was a bright sunny morning when Gram woke up and knowing of his parties impoliteness he headed to the old man from the night before asking his name he answered Thomas but his friends referred to him as Old Tom. Gram in an attempt to bolster the party asked for Tom’s weapon to be used in the protection of Rakansail, Old Tom declined. SO from there the group headed to the forest in the south in search of elves, the codex, and adventure. The group had trouble finding their way in the dense forest as the elves are masters at leaving discrete trails. Suddenly an elf dropped from from a tree standing in front of the group he was tall with sandy blonde hair. After some discussion the adventurers discovered the Drow have been fighting Elves for some time. After some quick unrecognizable hand signs the Elf escorted the party to the Elven City of Silver Leaf, thanks to Gram’s stubbornness and the Elf’s GT being so low he reasoned he needed to see a higher authority.
Upon arrival at Silver Leaf the group was greeted by Ethrial the captain of the Elven Gaurd. That is when they got a view of the sprawling city in the tree’s, ancient staircases winding around trunks leading into homes ingrained into the trunks. They proceeded up to Ethrial’s office and began discussing current events, he told them that the Drow had been exiled hundreds of thousands of years to the Darklands by the Elves. Recently however the Drow have started using the Golem Gate in order to enter the forest. After some internal debating Gram decided to disclose some information of their quest for the Codex. With that information Ethrial decided to divulge some information himself taking the party down deep underground to what appeared to be a young Elf. She was known as nothing more than the Librarian, they asked of the Codex and her eye glittered, Telling them that when the Tower had been burned the Codex was stolen by a soldier who now lives in a Temple of The Sleeping Ones where he may be redeemed one day for his betrayal.
Ethrial escorted them out drawing them a map to the temple. From there they found a guide named Thariar who agrees to take them in exchange for protection and 2 silver. Along the road they see some movement in the distance but are unable to see what it is clearly. Jakob piped up, for the first time ever, beating on his shield yelling “I’m here to chew bubble gum and slay pussy and there isn’t any bubble gum so where are you pusscakes?”
A Drow peaked out from behind a tree shooting an arrow at Jakob who easily deflected it with his shield.. From there the Drow ran and Gram quickly responded with spell work crating Grease beneath the Drow’s feet who at first managed to keep his footing but soon had fallen. Meanwhile, Jakob began to throw rocks at the Drow as he started to crawl out of the Grease. Upon finally getting out Gram managed to put an arrow through his shoulder, as Jakob missed his third throw and began an approach. Before he arrived the enemy shot a whistling arrow in the sky knowing it was a signal Jakob stabbed the Drow and the group moved on quickly.
As night fell Thariar told them they had arrived and as the group looked at the massive stone temple, their hearts sank as they noticed tents set up around it. The travelers recognized them immediately as Drow, during which a scouting party of them passed and the group hid in bushes. As the scouts approached Thariar freaked out and began to run he quickly was dropped and began writhing on the ground screaming out in pain. The party then knew that the protection they had promised fell drastically short with the Elf dieing the female Drow yelled out, “come out or I’ll do the same to you.”
Jakob and Farr stood up allowing themselves to be taken prisoner. They were escorted towards the temple and Gram flanked drawing his bow. Posting up next to one of the tents he took a shot at the Drow leading the group and narrowly missed her. She was alerted shuffling in Jakob and Farr taking along two comrades with her as the camp scrambled looking for where the arrow came from. He made his way to the tree line and began a mad dash to meet up with Ethrial at Silver Leaf to alert him of the Drow and rally troops to help save his friends.
Once inside the temple the female said a few words and Jakob began to glow like a candle. Locking the door behind them the Drow tell them to advance telling them they’re the new test subjects of the traps that now fill the temple. As they are pushed forward Farr notices a scary blade trap signaling Jakob Farr purposely triggers the trap as the two ducked the blades flying over their heads. A dull thud entering their ears a Drow head hitting the floor Farr posted up behind Jakob as the living Drow male swung his blade at Jakob who easily blocked it with his shield replying with his own attack. He slashed his sword through the Drows neck at 45 degree angle partial decapitating the Drow the body slumps to ground blood spouting out of neck. Then the female attacked slashing in between the plates of Jakob’s armor the poison coating her blade causing him to convulse like Thariar, through the pain he managed to stab the female back. Blood spewing from her chest she took her Gaurdian Spirit Ammulet from around her neck throwing it to the ground smoke shot up around her saying, “Vazira forgive me.”
Jakob picked up a Drow short sword and much like the rocks from earlier missed his throw at her. A portal opened behind her giving a brief view at an armada of tents in a bleak desert a view at the Darklands. She fell back into the portal closing behind her Jakob’s glow began to fade as the world around them darkened.

Welcome to Spireholt
Session 3

We meet our group on there travel to Spireholt. Along the road they come across a dark green object. Upon further observation Farr realizes he is a hunter. Checking for a pulse he learn this man has been dead for a while. Noticing an amulet around his neck with an eagle emblazoned on it Farr recognized it as that of the Sleeping Ones. Farr wanted to bury the body, but the group hadn’t a shovel. The brothers couldn’t have cared less about body electing to leave it. The debate continued until Farr decided to do his own form of burial covering the body with leaves.
Suddenly, Gram noticed two men approaching from the rear. He and his brother rested their hands on their weapons as they waited. As the two approached they got better looks at them, one was medium height and weak looking, the other made up for the strength the first one lacked towering above the other. The smaller introduced himself as Harken Soulblood and the other as Grunt. After a small conversation they decided that with the danger of the road that they should join together as one solid group. As they continued forward Harken asked to pay his respects to the deceased and the group agreed to wait. All but Gram who decided to follow him as he was suspicious of the traveler. The man wrote something on a note and saying, “I wish you luck in this life and the next.” The bard approached once he had left reading the note, it read The Soul Flourishes Even in Death. Gram recognized it as a scripture by the Undying Lord. Soon the travelers arrived at Spireholt going their seperate ways.
Our adventures head to the nearest tavern wherin Jakob called out, A flagon of ale to anyone with information on Lord Kellar Leorin. A man staggered over claiming to have some knowledge, and after some drunken misinformation they learned of his habitation with the Dwarves in the north. From there the group divided Farr headed to the refugees from Bremon bringing Jakob with him for protection. Before the two left Gram warned them of the dangers of Spireholt offering to hold onto Farr‘s money for safe keeping, who accepted handing over 6 gold coins. Money in hand Gram headed off on an adventure of his own, most of which the party knows nothing about and met a gnome named Nightshade. After the groups finished their separate tasks they regrouped and Gram bought a shovel, possibly with Farr’s gold, after a little haggling on the price.
As they left the city Arthur‘s correspondence arrived telling that things are good on the home front though Imeria grows restless. Gram wrote back,
Hark Ye Father,
Tell yonder lady Imeria that we will return soon and knowledge on Leorin is good. We shall bring her along when we go to him and we will be back to Bremon in a weeks time. First we must explore some ruins. So alas my Father and Mother I will see thine smiling faces once more.

Afterwards the group set up camp for the night where Gram named his horse Geffery and cuddled up with him for the night. In the middle of the night Farr received a vision from NFC telling him of a magic codex that he must find and use to get a vessel and of a man named Vazira whom Farr should be weary of. Knowing the Red Tower was the last known location of the codex the heroes headed off in that direction. The road on the way there was uneventful and upon arrival they see a large group of tents. Recognizing the banner of the Magi of the Red Tower Gram requested the others to stay behind and as the sun set he infiltrated the Red Tower. Jakob and Farr aproached the tents initiating conversation with an older gentleman, he warned of the tower at night.
Meanwhile, Gram felt something approaching he turned around to see the ghost of a man on fire. He started to run searching for a window to escape from, so sooner did he find one then the ghost began to change his arm becoming a scythe. He slashed at the halfling who leaped out the window just in time to dodge the blade. Not quite sticking the landing he headed back to the group. He arrived in time for another to join Farr and Jakob’s conversation spouting bigotry and racism against Farr. Gram leaped from behind the tent telling the younger man off and when he replied that he had his eye on Farr the bard warned him of the three on him. From there the man walked away and Gram sat down just in time for the story. The older gentleman told a tale of the once great Red Tower. There was a Codex that was used to catalog the various items and books in their possession. Gram asked if there was a artifact or book that could make a darkness enough to blot out the sun. The man replied it was possible indeed. From there the group camped A Gram’s Length away from the Magi of the Red Tower.

Reclimation of Bremon
Session 2

We meet our characters at the headquarters of the local Freeblades faction after a good nights rest they are awoken by a messenger. Alerting Gram, Farr, Jakob, and Imeria that the time for war was upon them. After a quick strategy meeting with Ralia Ironhorn, Ironheart depending on who you ask, Gram and his brother were granted a small strike force for arrival in Bremon. After a days forced march the battalion arrived at the small town, after some scouting from Gram and Imeria the heroes regrouped with Ironhorn and the plot was made.
Ironhorn and her forces would attack the front gates with Farr and Imeria. Meanwhile, Gram and Jakob with their strike force were to watch the back and make sure that none escaped. Gram being impatient decided instead to climb onto the roof tops of his old town and shoot arrows at the Orcs on the watchtowers. Attracting their attention Jakob and the soldiers moved out climbing the towers. When the Orcs noticed they swung Jakob valiantly dodged as the sword hit the wood the soldier on the other tower wasn’t so lucky. Cleaved clean in half his body fell down knocking down another on his decent.
On the front of the battle things were not going well the Orcs were overrunning the Freeblades and Farr was doing his best to heal the units. Suddenly, the reinforcements poured out and the tide of battle changed the Orcs quickly becoming over run. Jakob had just managed to power attack his way through the Orc on the watchtower but its rage brought it back for a final assault damaging him deeply. With the Orcs in the watchtowers defeated the soldiers headed back down, that’s when Gram noticed the worgs. Saddled on their backs was three Orcs one of which was the Chieftain. Jakob ordered for the soldiers to create a phalanx. Gram not fully thinking through his strategy leaped from the roof bringing down his rapier between his legs he stabbed the Chieftain in the back the blade wedging itself deep in his muscle. Holding on for dear life Gram pulled out a familiar book of epics and began reading. Inspired the phalanx managed to stop the worg and the Chief in it’s track. Encouraged by Gram his elder brother decapitated the Orc taking the head to the front gates declaring the battle over. Cheers erupted and the party regrouped Farr continuing to heal the injured.
The group decided it was time to look for the rising king. They quickly decided the best place to find information and rumors about him would be in Spireholt. Gram conversed with his adoptive father Arthur asking him to take care of Imeria. He promised that he would write via courier telling of the state of the town and the girl while they were gone. Before they left Imeria gave Farr a amulet saying it would keep him safe upon further observation the group recognized it as a Gaurdian Spirit Amulet mythological it has the power to take the carrier back home. With that our adventures headed out to Spireholt.

Escape From Bremon
First Session

Our adventure begins in the small, free town of Bremon, a few miles outside the ruins of the once grand city of Spireholt. It is here where our young heroes are helping repair the town in preparation for the next orcish raid. Normally the orcs are content to raid dwarven merchant ships and pillage coastal villages, however something has driven them inland. They assault Bremon every day, slowly wearing down the town’s defenses as well as their spirit.

It began with a town meeting in the town hall. People gathered to discuss whether the town should stand their ground, or evacuate. Gram Fulbring, adoptive son of the local blacksmith argued that launching a counter attack might drive the orcs back, however most of the villagers were opposed to this plan and the decision was ultimately made to evacuate. Meanwhile, Gram and his adoptive brother, Jakob Anderson noticed one of the young clerics in training acting suspiciously at the meeting. They took the small child outside and threatened him until he admitted that he knew the reason why the orcs were attacking. They were after a young foreign who had fallen ill and was being treated at the church, in his dreams the goddess had told him that he had to protect her.

Heading to the temple they were then joined by Farr, an elven priest of Lunara, who came along to help the girl and reign in the destructive impulses of the brothers. When they arrived at the temple, they found that everthing was as the cleric boy, Alfric, had said, and after some healing from Farr, the girl was ready to answer some questions. She told them her name was Imeria, and that she was from the Darklands across the sea. She claimed needed to speak with the King of Humans, but after being informed that the human kingdom had fallen years ago, she became distraught. She told them that across the sea, the Drow had allied with the orks and were massing an army to invade the Brightlands.

With this information, Gram, Jakob, Farr, and Imeria set off to the stronghold of the Freeblades to enlist their help in defeating the orcs as well as the drow in the future. As they left, most of the villagers were evacuating to Spireholt, leaving the village to the orcs. When they arrived at the stronghold, they met with Ralia Ironhorn, leader of the local chapter of the Freeblades. They told her of the orcish attack and the impending Drow invasion. She agreed to help on both occasion on the condition that Jakob’s father, a blacksmith, would work for the Freeblades to make their weapons and armor. With that our heroes retired to their chambers and prepared to march on Bremon on the Morning.
